I hope you are enjoying the summer just as much as I am, but if we know anything about school starting back, we know things can get hectic.
Based on how it affects you and your child, there can be excitement, angst, fear, joy, or even numbness around school starting back.
Let’s take a moment to reflect before it’s here. Here are three steps to empower your family’s transition back to school.
#1 Parents Prioritize Your Mental Health: Yes, you may want the kiddos to be in all the activities and to have the best teachers; however, what will you need to succeed this year? Your mental health and well-being is dependent on you prioritizing yourself so you can support your children.
#2 Establish Goals: Are you expecting something from yourself, your spouse, your co-parent, or your child? This could be things like your child making honor roll, college prep, family time every Saturday, or having home-cooked meals every night. By setting clear goals with yourself and others, you can establish what you need to make your goals become a reality.
#3 Reflect: This summer and the last two semesters have likely included growth, lessons learned, and many victories. Remember the lessons, continue the growth, and consider spending most of your time celebrating the victories.
